Variable-Speed Air Conditioners and High Energy Efficiency
February 15, 2016
When you consider how much work air conditioning systems in Orlando have to perform over the long hot seasons, it’s actually a marvel they don’t need to be replaced every single year! Of course, manufacturers construct ACs to last as long as possible, and if you take care of your home’s air conditioner (that means annual spring maintenance, without fail) it should provide you with around 15 years of cooling.

Is It Too Early to Call for Air Conditioning Maintenance?
February 1, 2016
It seems like only yesterday we were reminding people to have maintenance checks to make sure their HVAC equipment was prepared to handle the cooler weather of winter. But this is Florida, after all, and the winters here are mild and don’t hang around. In fact, it won’t be long until we’re enjoying warm temperatures once again—although perhaps “enjoying” isn’t always the right term for when it gets extraordinarily hot.
Some Common Misunderstandings about Air Conditioners
January 25, 2016
Air conditioners are a large part of everyday life, particularly in a place like Orlando, where we have resort-style weather for much of the year, and our summers can become brutally hot and humid. However, winter does present the best opportunity to arrange for the replacement of an old air conditioning system, or the installation of the first AC for a new house.
You should always have professionals perform the installation/replacement so you can avoid a number of major mistakes homeowners often make with ACs. In this post, we’ll look at the biggest error an amateur can make when it comes to installing a new cooling system.
3 Benefits of Installing Zone Control for Your Home
January 11, 2016
What is zone control? It’s a way to divide up the heating and air conditioning of your home into a series of different “zones” that can be manipulated separate from each other. The conventional HVAC system has an all-or-nothing ventilation layout, so that each time the heater or AC turns on, the conditioned air from the blower goes to all of the rooms. Zone control uses dampers placed into the ducts to close off sections of the ventilation network so that only specific zones receive heater/cooled air. Thermostats in each zone control the settings, and all the thermostat are networked through a central panel that operates all of the zones.
Ideal Thermostat Settings for Florida Winters
January 4, 2016
The winters in Florida are famously mild, which is one of the reasons the state is among the top tourist destinations in the U.S. during this time of year. However, we still encounter colder days when we need to raise the thermostat settings to turn on our heaters. Because homeowners here are far less used to operating heating systems than in other parts of the country, they often make errors with setting the thermostat during the winter. This often leads to energy waste and discomfort.
